What are the schools like in Lake Butler (Union County), FL?
Well, you might have guessed that the public schools in Lake Butler, Union County, Florida will be smaller than our surrounding counties. Alachua & Columbia County Schools certainly have far more students and schools than the Union County public schools. However, we’ve all heard that saying “great things come in small packages.”
The same is true for Union County Schools. For the past 7 years the Union County Schools have remained an “A” district.

So, there won’t be any confusion which school your child(ren) will attend when you live here.
While academics rank high among our priorities, the extracurricular activities around here do as well. You will find many students active in sports and clubs within the school systems. On most given Friday nights you will find many of those students at the football field to enjoy the game. Or you might see the glow of the lights as you close in on the baseball or softball. We can’t forget tennis, volleyball, basketball and more.
Union County Schools have a strong reputation for their FFA organization. The FFA (Future Farmers of America) program here has been built for many years with the efforts of the school staff and students. There have been many state and national titles brought to the school by their dedication to this organization.
And while we are talking about titles as I write this, the Union County Varsity Baseball team just won the state title for this year (2012). There have been many titles brought home by the Union County High School Varsity Football teams, Girls Softball & more. Go Tigers!
