Short Sales "Get a Boost"

On April 5, lenders and mortgage investors will have even more incentives to offer troubled borrowers short sales instead of foreclosing. Under the new changes to Home Affordable Foreclosure Alternatives program, borrowers will earn a $3,000 “relocation incentive” and loan servicers will get $1,500 for handling a short sale.

We normally see a drop in the number of sales and a small increase in prices for January, which is true again this year (the average sale price for homes went up by about $5k). The good news is that the number of home sales increased by about 15% compared to Jan a year ago while the number of condo sales increased by 77% to 16 sales.
